1. Classroom records
Lesson Nook does not require an account or backend. Child names, attendance sessions, care notes, routines, plans, and family summaries stay in the app's encrypted SQLCipher-backed database on the device. They are not sent to advertising providers, Crashlytics, YouTube, or a Kortex backend.
PDF creation, printing, and sharing happen only when a teacher chooses those actions. External media links remain disabled until the bundled content receives human editorial review.
2. Crash reporting and advertising
Crashlytics may receive limited technical diagnostics needed to identify Android crashes and improve stability. The telemetry boundary excludes child records, names, care notes, attendance times, photos, documents, and other user-entered content.
Google Mobile Ads is restricted to adult-facing surfaces. Development and internal-testing builds use Google's test identifiers; a release may use approved production ad identifiers. Advertising providers may process device or advertising information to serve and measure ads under their own policies. Child records are never sent to ads.
3. Retention and deletion
Lesson Nook applies local retention controls: care notes are retained for 90 days and attendance history for up to 13 months unless the teacher deletes records sooner. Deleting a child record cascades through its local attendance and note data. Clearing the app's data or using its deletion controls removes local records from the device.
4. Your choices
You control the device, local records, optional printing or sharing, permissions, and whether to use adult-facing ad surfaces. Lesson Nook is a planning aid, not a replacement for an approved curriculum, attendance policy, incident form, medication log, or legal advice.
